Activities

We provide therapeutic activities for stroke survivors and our aim is to:

  • Reinforce daily living skills
  • Develop effective communication skills
  • Promote self-confidence and initiative
  • Increase independence and encourage social integration
  • Develop strategies to manage psychosocial difficulties

What We Offer:

Skills Development After Stroke

To encourage members to use lost skills or in many cases to discover new skills.  This day promotes feelings of self-worth and achievement, self confidence and initiative is developed. Social integration and communication skills are enhanced. TSSS co-ordinates activities of an artistic nature i.e. painting in oils & watercolours.

Communication After Stroke

Small groups are facilitated by a trained TSSS member of staff assisted by trained volunteers.  The aim is to develop effective functional communication skills through alternative strategies and coping techniques.  To develop self-confidence, initiative and social integration. To increase independence and prevent social isolation.

Rehabilitation After Stroke

A mixed ability group including those with higher dependency needs with a structured exercise session and group therapy. Also included are numeracy & literacy skills, money handling and other activities to enhance mental and physical confidence.

Social Interaction After Stroke

General group with the same aims as Monday plus a gentle exercise group.
